TRAIN TO BECOME A LICENSED INVENTORY PROVIDER WITH IPS

Recently, Scottish Government have announced the introduction of a Tenancy Deposit Scheme to safe guard tenant deposits. This is inline with practises across the rest of the UK and is a much overdue development in an industry which is poorly regulated. This development is supported by IPS.

The scheme will undoubtedly give rise to many disputes as tenants will now have a voice. However, the same can be said for landlords who have previously had to reluctantly opt for the `easy` option in order to avoid court expenses and burdened unnecessary costs in the process.

The success of the scheme will depend largely on the standard and consistency of evidence provided at dispute as this will be the key to resolving the issue fairly and quickly. Often, the Inventory is the only source of evidence available to the process of dispute resolution.

In order to remove all possible conflicts of interest and ensure the integrity of the inventory, it is paramount that it be a properly compiled Inventory by a qualified and independent body. This determines its value and credibility as evidence in a dispute. These are recommendations currently being made by the existing scheme in England.

There are over 170,000 tenancies in the private sector in Scotland and 2 million across the UK. The average length of a tenancy can be from 6 months to 16 months. This combined with the potential requirements of a Government Scheme indicates the demand for a substantial number of independently provided inventories. In anticipation of this IPS/UK are recruiting now to meet with demand from our growing client base. Courses are being held throughout the UK and consist of one day theory, one day practical and supported portfolio assessments.

The cost of training is £295.00 + VAT and includes one years membership to the Licensing Scheme worth £200.00
